¶A.  Attendance of the Head of State 
 
-- Abdoulaye Wade, President of the Republic of Senegal 
 
-- President Wade will travel to New York following the G-77 
and G-15 meetings in Havana. 
 
-- Mrs. Viviane Wade will travel to New York with her spouse. 
 
-- While desirable, French interpretation would not be 
required. 
 
¶B.  Attendance of the Head of Government 
 
-- Macky Sall, the Prime Minister, and Mrs. Sall have no 
plans to attend UNGA. 
 
¶C.  Attendance of the Foreign Minister 
 
-- Cheikh Tidiane Gadio, Senior Minister of Foreign Affairs, 
will travel to New York with President and Mrs. Wade.  The 
Foreign Minister will be present for the General Debate. 
 
-- Interpretation would not be required. 
 
¶D.  Attendance of other VIPs 
 
-- No other Senegalese VIPs are currently expected at the 
UNGA. 
 
¶E.  Attendance of the Foreign Ministry official responsible 
for IO affairs 
 
-- Papa Omar Ndiaye, Director of International Organization 
Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be in New 
York for much of the UNGA 
 
-- Travel details are not yet available. 
 
-- French interpretation would be desirable. 
 
¶2.  (C) President Wade has again asked to meet with the 
President in New York or Washington and wishes to discuss the 
status of Senegal,s Millennium Challenge Account (MCA) 
Compact.  He is also likely to raise Iran, other Middle East 
issues, and African issues.  Embassy strongly recommends a 
high-level meeting.
