AND REQUESTS FOR MEETINGS (EL SALVADOR)

¶1.  (SBU) On July 20, Poloff spoke with Protocol Officer of 
the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) Herbert Caceres. 
Caceres indicated that the Salvadoran delegation plans to 
arrive September 18 and depart September 23.  They will 
travel via Taca Airlines and the port of entry will be John 
¶F. Kennedy Airport.  President Antonio Elias Saca will be 
accompanied by First Lady Ana Miriam Mixco de Saca.  Other 
members of the delegation will include Foreign Minister 
Francisco Lainez, accompanied by his wife Monica de Lainez, 
Protocol Director Jose Francisco Marino (MFA), Chief of Staff 
Miguel Orantes (Ministry of Defense), Director of External 
Politics Ambassador Guillermo Melenez (MFA), Multilateral and 
Summits Officer Felix Ulloa (MFA), Protocol Officer Herbert 
Caceres (MFA) and Personal Secretary Elmer Charlaix 
(Presidential Staff).  A Spanish-English translator will 
accompany the President to bilateral and multilateral 
meetings. 
 
¶2.  (SBU) Note:  President Saca is scheduled to speak at the 
United Nations General Assembly on September 19.  President 
Saca will have time available for bilateral and multilateral 
meetings on September 20 and 21.  On September 22, President 
Saca will attend a Salvadoran-American event on Long Island.
