SUBJECT: LITHUANIANS WILL CONSIDER MORE TRAINERS FOR NTM-I

REF: STATE 99701

Classified By: DCM Damian R. Leader for reasons 1.4 (b) and (d).

(C) MoND Acting Director of International Operations Migle
Budryte told Post September 19 that Lithuania plans to
continue participation in NTM-I and will also consider
contributing additional trainers and advisors (reftel) to the
mission. Budryte said she had not yet reviewed CE 6.0 but
suspected the report was still being circulated within the
Lithuanian military. She also indicated that reaching a
final decision on additional military or civilian personnel
to NTM-I may be difficult for the next few weeks as there are
Parliamentary elections October 12. Any decision on NTM-I
personnel changes will require DefMin approval.
