¶1. (C) Post discussed reftel points October 15 with MoND 
Acting Director of International Operations Migle Budryte and 
her Deputy, Bartas Trakymas.  Budryte said the MoND is still 
considering an increased training presence in Afghanistan and 
will let us know when a decision is final. 
 
¶2. (C) On a related note, Budryte revealed that the 
Lithuanians will be raising the number of SOF from 
fifty-three to eighty-one starting in February 2009 for a 
nine month rotation.  She said that six of the new SOF will 
be assigned to protect the Lithuanian mission in Kabul. 
Budryte also said that the Lithuanians had received a final 
refusal from the Latvians on contributing their own SOF to 
Lithuania's February rotation (ref b).
